Here's your word of the day

I was checking out the found magazine website, and this was the find of the day:

I always wondered what the technical term for those was.

naptime nirvana

So I bought a $5 eco pillow yesterday. It's filled with a fiberfill blend made of recycled plastic bottles. It felt soft enough, but I wasn't sure how much I'd like it.

Used it last night, and I must say I haven't slept that soundly in a long time. I am totally buying another one today after I get off work or else eddie and I will be fighting over who gets to use it tonight!

What's funny about it is the fact that we just got some new $20 ralph lauren pillows for christmas, and they don't even compare! Who knew that a $5 pillow would be so much better than a $20 one? Even better, it has a 3 year warranty. So if it gets all lumpy, you can send it in for a replacement!

I am totally sold. Just wanted to share.

Well that was interesting

So yesterday was pretty ordinary. Went to work, took a bike ride, watched little britain, and ate dinner. Eddie was passed out on the couch, so I decided to take a bath. About halfway through, eddie rushed into bathroom looking pretty freaked out.

"We have to leave right now!"
"right now?"
"Yes, right now!"
"Why?"
"There's a policeman outside, and he says there's a problem with our neighbor across the hall. We have to evacuate the building immediately."
"shit!"

I hurriedly threw my clothes on (jeans on wet skin, lame!) and grabbed my cell phone, purse, and a book. I still had conditioner in my hair. We had to exit through our sliding glass door because the front door "wasn't safe". When we got outside, the cop waved us over and told us not to come back for an hour and a half, and not to drive north past the front of the building. That's when we noticed that he had a gun in his right hand. Yikes!

We took refuge at a friend's house, and lamented the fact that we'd forgotten our police band scanner. At 9:30 pm, it had been an hour and a half, but we weren't sure if the "situation" had been resolved. Luckily our friend knows some people in the records department at the police station, and a quick call let us know that it was not yet safe to return.

At 10:30, the records guy called back to let us know that everything was okay, and we could go back home. Apparently, one of our neighbors had barricaded himself in his apartment and threatened to shoot himself. There had been a standoff for 2 hours, but fortunately he finally came out and was taken to the hospital.

Wow.

Someone vomited outside the back door of my apartment complex. Not in the grass or the big plastic bucket just to the left of the door for cigarette butts. Nope. Right in front of the fucking door.

Oh yeah. It's orange. With bits of ramen noodle, carrots, and corn.

I didn't think it was possible for ramen to be even more disgusting than it already is.

I was wrong.

*Addendum*
It rained this afternoon and now the birds are eating it.

This is neat. I think I'm going to try it.

Now if I could just find someone to send me random themed mix tapes, I'd be in heaven! :)
