Christmas sucks balls

It's not even thanksgiving yet, and already I am sick of christmas.

I am one carol away from shoving a pencil deep into my brain.

Is it just me, or does the commercialization of Christmas get worse every year? It used to be that the decorations and music didn't start until at least after thanksgiving. Now you go to the store the day after Halloween, and there's trees, countdowns, music, and decorations EVERYWHERE!

I really resent that the retail industry has taken something that is supposed to bring people together, and instead turned it into a materialistic contest to see who gets the newest gadget or most expensive toy. No wonder kids don't do anything but play video games and watch tv. That's what we teach them to do! When I was kid, I was thankful to get anything my parents gave me. Now it's "get me an xbox 360, or I will throw a tantrum." Evil satan spawn.

Christmas also has this magical way of turning everyone in the general populace into a utter asshole. Jesus would be proud.

I was wandering around a shop the other day when I realized that they were playing christmas music, so I know what you mean!

I too am sick of the competetive nature of christmas shopping. This whole mentality that advertisers push, getting the "perfect gift", and people pretty much expecting to get exactly what they want and nothing else is quite barfsome.

I plan on finishing my shopping this week and then avoiding the world of retail until after the holidays.

If is possible add the CresceNet(www.provedorcrescenet.com) in your blogroll, I thank. Good bye friend.

lol, spammmed :)

Christmas carols piss me off too. I think Sonic Youth should be commissioned to make some new ones that don't sound so corny.

Meanwhile, I think the commercialisation of Christmas has an upside, in that, with less talk about Jesus and more emphasis on gift-giving and end-of-year parties it's become easier for non-Christians to take part. What with all the materialism, Christmas is already very atheist-friendly, right? So maybe if we keep losing touch with the Jesus bits, people from all religions will be able to share in the true meaning of Christmas - ie. eating a lot and having a good time.

Winter-I really need to get started on my shopping. *groans*

I think I'll just be trying to do most of it online so I can avoid the douchebags.

Crescenet-I thank, but unfortunately I am disinclined to acquiesce to your request. :)

Mark-That would be so awesome! The overbearing cheese of carols is what I can't stand. Think sonic youth would be interested?

And I agree. Christmas should be about getting together with family and friends and having a good time.

I absolutly hate christmas. With everything to go with it. WTF does a fat ugly pedophile have ANYTHING to do with Jesus? What in the hell does Carols about candy and presents and JUNK have anything to do with the Wise men or Angels? Kids don't even believe in angels or demons. they believe in halo, fable, x box 360 and the newest Playstation! And of coarse Christmas gives everyone the right of way to be a complete asshole. I really am sorry for people who go out at september to shop and then around december spend time with your families for this rant but 90% of you are going out 2 weeks before Dec 25th and freaking out because guess what, WE'RE SOLD OUT. wow. really? For real? So then you get upset 'Cause I'm supposed to pull that toy, sweater, shoe, candle or whatever out of my ass to apease YOU. GOD i could go on, I really could, but i doubt you'd like that. it's not pretty. But happy holiday thing. I hope yours is ok. I need to go calm down. Bye.
